Yeah, blackberries grow wild down here. We have an improved variety that gets bigger, is less tart, and has more flavor than the wild ones. We have tried growing rabbit-eye blueberries repeatedly down here and have had absolutely no success. We have tried everything recommended, including increasing the acidity of the soil, all to no avail. We have had modest success with strawberries.
I'm married to a wonderful woman, Judy, and we are blessed to have two sons and two daughters who make us proud. We have three granddaughters as well. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I grew up on a dairy farm in NE Utah, went to school at BYU (Provo) and UM (St. Paul Campus), met Judy in Minneapolis, spent 16 yrs in Hawaii where we raised our children, returned to Utah for 7 yrs between "real" jobs, moved to southern Louisiana in 2000 and have been here since.
