I took these photos of sugarcane in a flowering mode at our breeding station in Houma in the late fall timeframe, not all in the same year. I tried to make one of them a little bit artsy. If you have a strong preference for any one of them in particular, let me know. Flowering is not a desirable trait to the grower, but is essential to the breeder in order to make crosses and start the arduous task of identifying superior progeny.
They're all very pretty! My favorite is the one on top, but I also like the 3rd one a good deal, too. Reminds me of some of mom's paintings--she should do more! :)
I'm married to a wonderful woman, Judy, and we are blessed to have two sons and two daughters who make us proud. We have three granddaughters as well. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I grew up on a dairy farm in NE Utah, went to school at BYU (Provo) and UM (St. Paul Campus), met Judy in Minneapolis, spent 16 yrs in Hawaii where we raised our children, returned to Utah for 7 yrs between "real" jobs, moved to southern Louisiana in 2000 and have been here since.
